Our Story

From a Tiny Maine Kitchen to 80+ Retail Locations

By Ian Reilly, co-founder & sales and marketing manager

When people see Mojo products on dispensary shelves across Maine, they sometimes assume we're a much bigger company than we are.

The truth is, Mojo started in a tiny kitchen with a simple goal: make edibles that don't suck.

No investors. No venture capital. No boardroom full of people arguing over spreadsheets. Just a handful of people trying to make products we'd actually want to eat ourselves.

Back then, Maine's medical cannabis market looked very different. There were fewer stores, fewer brands, and no roadmap for how to build a successful edible company. We made mistakes. We learned as we went. We burned through plenty of late nights and early mornings trying to figure out what worked and what didn't.

Somehow, that's exactly what prepared us for what came next.

We Kept Doing What We'd Always Done

As the market grew, competition exploded. New brands appeared every month. Some came with huge budgets. Some came with flashy marketing campaigns. Some came and disappeared before their first anniversary.

We kept doing what we had always done.

  • We responded to emails.
  • We shipped orders when we said we would.
  • We fixed problems when they came up.
  • We listened to retailers.
  • We focused on making products people came back for.

That approach isn't particularly sexy. It doesn't make headlines. Nobody writes magazine articles about answering emails quickly, maintaining inventory, or getting wholesale orders out the door on time.

But it works.

80+ Locations and Counting

Today, Mojo products can be found in more than 80 retail locations across Maine. From the southern border to Downeast, from small caregiver storefronts to some of the busiest dispensaries in the state, we've built relationships one order at a time.

We've never been interested in being the loudest company in the room.

We'd rather be the company retailers trust when they need inventory on the shelf. The company that responds quickly when questions come up. The company that makes ordering easy. The company that gets products delivered without turning a routine restock into a complicated process. The company that remembers every wholesale account is a small business trying to survive just like we are.

That's probably why we've always connected so well with our retail partners. Most of them aren't giant corporations either. They're people putting in long hours, solving problems on the fly, and trying to build something that lasts.

We understand that because we've been doing the same thing.

Small Team. Real Accountability.

Today, our team is still small by industry standards. That's not a weakness. It's one of our strengths.

A small team means fewer layers, faster decisions, better communication, and a level of accountability that's hard to fake. We don't have departments handing things off to other departments. The people making decisions are the same people packing orders, building relationships, developing products, and making sure deliveries leave on time.

Every order that leaves our facility represents our name, our reputation, and years of trust we've worked hard to earn.

The Fundamentals Don't Change

The cannabis industry changes constantly. Regulations change. Markets change. Consumer preferences change.

The fundamentals don't.

  • Make a good product.
  • Treat people fairly.
  • Do what you say you're going to do.
  • Take care of your team.
  • Take care of your customers.

Those principles helped us grow from a tiny Maine kitchen into one of the state's most widely distributed edible brands. They're also the same principles that will carry us wherever we go next.

We've never tried to be the biggest company in Maine cannabis.

We just wanted to build one worth doing business with.

And while we've come a long way since those early days, we're still chasing the same goal we started with: making edibles that don't suck.
